Two weeks left and my bedroom is far, far away from being done. I’ve not received the fabric for the draperies, the bedding has not arrived yet, the sofa fell through etc. etc. The bright spot however was receiving the black and white striped cushions for the double chaise on the little deck outside my One Room Challenge Week # 4

We are working hard to get this room done in time. When design has to be done on a strict deadline you have to go with the flow. This week we found out a number of items I had wanted would not be here in time, so a new plan had to be put in One Room Challenge – Week #3

It’s Wednesday again and One Room Challenge time. I’m happy to have the the help of my great office manager Emily and intern Jessica to pull the makeover off in time. I’m excited to let you know I’m participating in the One Room Challenge! The internet makeover craze is the brainchild of Linda from Calling it Home. She invites 20 bloggers/designers to makeover a room in just 6 WEEKS and to share the progress every Wednesday on their blogs.
Seeing some of these ladies makeover their spaces in the past, inspired me to roll my sleeves up and tackle a room in our home. It gets kind of contagious to follow along, you’ll start looking around looking your own home and go hmm….

Our house in Sweden has a little guest cottage on the land that the farm workers lived in back in the 1800’s. It was a charming little cottage right on the lake, but by the time we bought the house the guest cottage had become a sauna with a depressing bedroom with no windows. I love drastic makeovers, do you?
I finally got some projects photographed so I can do these makeover Mondays. Here is a BEFORE/AFTER from a project. It’s a master bedroom in an apartment I designed for a family in Manhattan. They wanted a boutique hotel vibe in the master suite – a space that was engulfing and cozy. The design guide line was one that I love to hear “not boring”, however it needed to be a peaceful space both husband and wife would love.
