I love drastic makeovers, do you?
I finally got some projects photographed so I can do these makeover Mondays. Here is a BEFORE/AFTER from a project. It’s a master bedroom in an apartment I designed for a family in Manhattan. They wanted a boutique hotel vibe in the master suite – a space that was engulfing and cozy. The design guide line was one that I love to hear “not boring”, however it needed to be a peaceful space both husband and wife would love.
I don’t have a ton of pictures, but this is what it looked like…
To maximize the space, we removed the existing sleigh bed and large matching dresser. We wanted to gain more square footage, and the size and style of the pieces are key to do so.
The whole place was emptied to be renovated and at one point looked like this.
A couple of months later the bedroom looked like this…
All images Tanya Malott.
Damask wallpaper, Weinrib carpet, and black graphic dressers bring in both feminine and masculine aspects to the room.
We painted the ceiling grey and the inside of the closet yellow. (Bummed I don’t have a pic of it). Simple light silk curtains with a patterned roman blind. The got a custom Pagoda headboard in a shimmery velvet and our Lucky Bedding in black.
Gourd lamps and a velvet slipper chair with two fabrics.
Roman blinds that let in just enough light.
Olive velvet with nail heads.
I hope to have my portfolio and services site live soon so I can share more projects.

Just fabulous Jill! I think that you achieved the perfect balance between not boring and peaceful. LOVE the shade fabric… using it in a project I am working on, but in another color way.
