Lately I’m very inspired by tropical inspired designs. I just love seeing the revival of the preppy & colorful Lilly Pulitzer brand. That confirms that all popular beach looks don’t have to be blue and white…
For those of you who haven’t heard her story, Lilly Pulitzer was socialite in Palm Beach whose husband owned citrus groves. She opened a juice stand on Worth Avenue and found her self squeezing juice all day. She was frustrated by ruining and staining her clothes so she did what any clever, enterprising and creative woman would do…she designed a sleeveless shift dress in bold colored prints that would camouflage the juice stains!
Customers fell in love with her dress so she designed some more to sell at her juice stand. Finally she sold more dresses than juice and Lilly Pulitzer Inc. was born. From the early 1960’s to the 1980’s her brand was worn by all kinds of preppy socialites and moms all over America.
I have never been to any of the current stores – but definitely will have to pay a visit if not only to try on something in her wild crazy colorful fitting rooms!

These fitting rooms are so contagious it would be impossible not to buy something.
These cool retro prints are still awesome today.
