With the economy still in the tank it I find myself looking for less expensive items that can still do the job well. It does seem as if you can find better things for cheaper prices these days. Or maybe it just feels that way because I’m always searching for them. Here are some really chic buys that won’t break your budget, and I think would be very stylish in any home.
Whitney nail notched headboard $ 449 from Home decorators. Super glamorous and beats the expensive price tag of a designer headboard.
White head boards can be so simple and elegant, and are great when off set with a strong color or pattern.
Here is a different version of a white headboard in a lucky little girl’s room. Image via the blog La Dolce Vita ( great blog!)
Velvet upholstered headboard $ 300 from Urban Outfitters. This comes in many colors and looks more expensive than it is.
Okay getting real Recessionista here…I like this price…just paint the outline of a head board!
Baubles lamps $ 119 for 2!!!! Nice and tall 30″high. These two lamps can work anywhere! There’s not a room they would not work in. On bedside tables maybe? On a modern buffet? On an antique buffet? Anything. Can’t beat the price.
Designer Molly Lutkemeyer used two similar ones on either side of a flat screen TV.
Table lamp II $ 109 Another one that wont break the bank.
Here are a similar pair of lamps that I saw on the cute blog Shelter. Use them on top of a console, chest of drawer, in front of a mirror.
Super glam X desk in white lacquer from Z Gallerie $ 449. I’ve seen a lot of super pricey x-desks lately. This one is very chic, and for a third of the price of others I’ve seen.
Can’t remember where I found this image. But this does look like this is the desk from Z Gallerie.
Gable rug $ 195 and Argonne rug $ 199. And those prices are for a 6 x 9 foot size!! Two great espresso brown geometric rugs that will make any interior stylish!
LA designer Vanessa de Vargas used a similar design in this Encino home.
Crystal wall mirror $ 35 from Bellacor.
A similar but slightly larger mirror is used in this pretty dining room. Image via Dolce Vita.
Yield coffee table $ 149. Super simple but so easy to use in many different style homes.
A coffee table like that could in a room like this.
Green link queen duvet $ 59 from West Elm
And one of my favorite Recessionista places of all time I think might be HotelSurplus. If you live in the LA area it’s worth a trip, if not then you can order from their website. Used furniture from all your favorite hotels, resold super cheap. What a great idea!!! I love reusing. Here are a few great buys currently.
A chic hotel setting for sale. Sleeper sofa as is $ 99!!!!!!
Pebble beach lounge chairs $ 279. Nice shapes and upholstery can go anywhere. Bedside tables $ 139/each.
The chairs looks a bit like the ones in this photo.
Think I’m going to do this every other week. There are just so many great things out there that’s afforable. Check it out!
Great deals! HotelSurplus is awesome…why isn't there one on the east coast??? We need one here so bad! I am wondering what the hotels around here do with their old decor.
There needs to be one on the East Coast!! It's genius.
Wow, great post. Thanks for all the references!
What FABULOUS suggestions that wont' break the bank. Thank you! It's evident that you put a lot of effort into this and sharing with us is greatly appreciated. Especially since so many of us seem to have that champagne taste on the beer budget. 🙂 I am loving the headboards from Urban Outfitters & Home Decorators. xo Laura
