I’ve been drooling over Betsy Burnham’s chic office in LA since seeing it in Lonny magazine. I’m not creating a big professional office YET, but I can still dream. I was going to turn our bland TV room in to an office, but after giving it a quick makeover a few months ago with bright orange walls, we now love the room, and don’t want to loose it…go figure! So I’m back to square one. I NEED AN OFFICE!!
I have an idea and I’m faced with a daunting decorating dilemma…..
This is the office of Betsy Burnham in LA.
I know I won’t have something that will look like this. But I need an office.
What is the most unused room in the house?
Hmm…the DINING ROOM!
Who uses a formal dining room?
NOT ME!! (At least not often)
So I’m taking steps turning this room in to something that will moonlight as an office, or perhaps it will be the other way around? The colors can stay, but it needs a bit more modern feel, as my entire home is morphing in to a more modern look.
You might remember this chandelier from the basement that I wanted to paint red?
I was so unsure about painting it because of the pretty paintwork. But it would have been wasted in the basement storage, and your vote was unanimous! So I painted it…
It looks a lighter red than it really is in this image. But it will go in my new office/dining design.
It has yet to be hung properly so I will share images of it in the room at a later date. It also needs shades to appear larger I think. We’ll see…
I also need STORAGE!
Happened to stumble upon this piece in a second hand store a while back…
The lines seemed to fit a bit more modern feel, while still working with the french country sideboard and dining table. All this mixing of styles, my head is spinning….But my walls are green so it needed paint..
Here it is in my garage.
We gave it silver handles with everything else white. Nothing too complicated.
I wanted to paint the back wall of it another color, but wanted to see the nice geometric pattern on the glass so I kept it simple.
I’ve finally moved it in to a corner in my “office” for some much needed storage. It’s a first step.
The chandelier needs shades, the curtain should go modern, more things needs to be done. But while the room is morphing we’re working in here.
I will share some more images and updates in a later post!
