I hope all of you on the east coast survived the storm without too much damage. Perhaps some of you have been spending the last few days like we have? Our power went out Monday afternoon and it just came back this evening. No light, no heat, no internet, and no phones for a few Living in darkness – a few days without electricity
Interior design is just my day job…there are just so many other “jobs” you do in one week.
Here are a few glimpses inside my week “outside” design.

10AM MONDAY – INSIDE MY CAR Inside my week outside design.
We’ve been out in LA for the past ten days. A mixture of work, meetings about new interesting opportunities, seeing good friends, and vacationing. We rented an apartment in lovely Santa Monica with an incredible view of the beach. A great place to also sit and work…. …at least so I thought. The rental offered An LA week.

A sliver of things going on within the last week….. Photographing finalized bedroom fabrics for guest bedrooms for a client. Work room halfway done on a headboard for a little girl’s room. I had an “audition interview” to host a HGTV show this week. I was asked to not only share what I do, also film some B-roll of what I talked about. After gesticulating wildly, (why do I talk with my hands?) Lily filmed with the flip camera, and I snapped some Iphone pics of stuff. Inside my week…
It’s funny how our children turn out like us… When Luke was a baby I was acting and writing scripts most of the time. Actually pretty obsessively, as that’s how I approach everything. (when I wasn’t designing of course…) Perhaps it’s the time Luke spent on set years ago, that’s bringing on his new passion….film Like Mother like Son…
Every week is not so pretty. You, go, go, go until late at night and you’re up at the crack of dawn. You work the early morning shift, the day shift and the late night shift multitasking every step of the way. We’re back, we’re tired, but refreshed. Sometimes the most fun things are not preplanned….Well what better way to get over a hard time than doing something difficult….like swimming with sharks? Or feed swimming pigs? Huh? I have an annoying fear of deep water from watching JAWS at the wrong age. I started surfing to get Would you swim here???
Thank God women can multitask! On any given day I do a million different things. It’s everything from big to small. Getting new tags made for my bedding and pillows, instead of Marmalade tags, I’m moving to these labels which is just my name. Trying to match up colors on small labels, takes more time The daily multitasking of running a business!
