One of my favorite organizations is the Humane Society of New York. It’s been spearheaded by one of my dearest friends mother, Virginia Chipurnoi for almost 30 years. They work endlessly to help abandoned dogs cats, or whatever animal in need that comes their way. All animals are trained, cared and loved for, and given a second chance to happiness. I went to their fantastic yearly photography auction in New York last night. The auction is a great way to purchase amazing art for your home while doing something good at the same time. Many famous photographers donate their work on many subject matters. Here is a selection of…you guessed it, animal art. I wish I could have all of these in my home!!
“Studio Cat” by Brigitte Lacombe
“Armor” by William Wegman
“MooCow” by Andrew Wethernton
“Ellen de Generes” by Annie Liebovitz
“168” by Merrit
“Natalia” from Russian Vogue by Arthur Elgort
“Dazzle of Zebras” by Charles Gold
“My Pup Billie Holiday” by Bruce Weber
“Dream” by Robert Dutesco
“World Trade center September 25”
“Scruff” by Tanya Braganti
“Ruby fireplace” by Terry Niefels
The auction might still be accepting some bidding. Some lucky person will have one of these beautiful animals adorn their wall.
But better yet….want a little animal friend? Here are some adorable pups looking for a home who currently live at the Humane Society. If I didn’t already have two I would rescue another one….
This is “GORDON”…
“BERNADETTE”
“BROWNIE”
“PACO”
…and baby “GUS”
You can find more details on all of them and more here.
oh my gosh- i really can't handle baby gus. oh my gosh i want him!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (but have my own little 5 yr-old rescue pup.)
will miss you tmrrow- thanks so much for organizing!!!
xoxo
The images are all fabulous…too hard to pick a favorite, but the Billie Holiday is really cute. I hope the auction results in financial support as well as homes for the homeless pets.
Thanks for leaving a note on my post. I always appreciate hearing from visitors. Rita
