It’s that time of year when moms walk around with a lump in their throats preparing their kids for the beginning of their grown up life – college. It’s a day I’m personally already dreading! Luke is sixteen but I can already be in a puddle of tears just thinking about it. I’m well awareFive dorm room looks
I love taking spaces that seem to be of no use and turn them in to something special. Every home has areas indoors as well as outdoors that just feels like wasted square footage. Clients tell me all the time about hallways, corners, nooks that they simply never use and have a millions of reasonNew renovation! A tropical spa area
Recycling. A subject close to my heart.
When you purchase a new piece of furniture no matter how nice it is, the second it arrives in your house it starts to loose value. Then when you move, redecorate, down size as life continually changes, its always a real pain to try to figure out how to sell your pieces, even if they are in perfect shape. Whatever doesn’t get sold, or donated, ends up in landfills. I’m a huge proponent of reusing and redoing what we already have.
When Chairish contacted me to design a style board around a chair I was thrilled to be introduced to their site. It’s a popular easy to use chic site where you can buy or sell used pieces. I was so excited to discover them that I designed a bunch of our Jill Sorensen Lifestyle bedrooms design ideas with all vintage pieces.Bedroom Design Ideas – with Chairish!
In honor of Lauren Bacall’s life I designed the next Bedroom design Idea using her as inspiration. She was perhaps the most beautiful, and most copied movie star of all time. Her cool stare, side swept hair and deep voice left a strong impression on all off us. Whether the “look” was imagined by theBEDROOM DESIGN IDEAS – RETRO MOVIE STARS
My dear friend Julie is sending her daughter Emily off to boarding school next week. Knowing the stress and worry she is going through to prepare for it, I wanted to create some chic & inexpensive dorm room ideas that might make the planning for some parents out there easier. Tropical leaves, old Hawaii, and mid century designs inspired this weeks bedroom design look – TROPICAL RETRO. Leaves are on my mind, as I’m anxiously awaiting the arrival of my very first sheet samples. We created a wallpaper in a larger version of the pattern for this look in anticipation of it. This weeks Bedroom Design Idea – Mid Century Maven!
This look was inspired by all the beautiful mid century houses you see all around LA. Although mid century can be minimalist in feel, there is no reason to keep the design indoors that way in my opinion! Add patterns and color but stay inspired to styles from that era.
This time I paired up some of my label with West Elm, Waverly and Society Social for a somewhat cost conscious bedroom design.BEDROOM DESIGN IDEA – MID CENTURY MAVEN
Happy Easter everyone! Easter was my favorite holiday growing up. In Sweden we had Easter witches, bonfires and fireworks that made it such a festive holiday. (You might remember this post.) Lovely Darlene at Fieldstone Hill Design invited me to do a NURSERY DESIGN for fun blog series for her newborn baby girl. (Congratulations Darlene!)
I believe in a few things regarding nurseries….
1) The design is just as much for the mom
2) Minimalism is a no, no
3) Use things that the baby can grow up with – hence no expensive redesign necessary in two years.
