We have arrived!

We our now living in California. I still can’t believe it.

We have settled in to our cute little rented bungalow.  It’s been a long, hard exhausting process emotionally and physically that included 5 days of camping in our new house with no internet for 9 days.  (I now officially hate aero beds and FIOS. There I said it.)

For the longest time Luke had a wishlist — he wanted to live in a place where it was warm all the time, in a small house in a neighborhood he could bike around in, with a bedroom across the hall from mine and a mail slot in the door.

I committed to changing my life and living it the way I always had imagined, instead of settling.

It has not been easy, nothing worth doing is ever easy and I know there are challenges ahead. But we got what we wished for…

…..even unexpectedly a mail slot in the door.

The days waiting for the truck looked like this.

Camping inside the house.

The back of the house overlooks….

….a cute backyard with gorgeous purple-blue flowers.

And the bungalow is a ten minute bike ride from this.

The first latte I ordered…

…I hope was a sign of what lies ahead!

  1. Aerobeds are horrible things, totally agree.
I lived in LA many many years ago and totally loved it. Good luck to you both.

  2. From the beach pic, I'm guessing you're in Santa Monica. or close by. My sister has lived there for the last 15 yrs or so and loves it. Mail slots in the door are the best! Congrats on your move and wishing you all the best.

  3. You will be very happy there Jill. Missing your beautiful smiling face in DC but will come with Niall and Cian soon. Love.
