It’s time again for some outside the box thinking!
1. ADD SOME SPICE TO YOUR BED!
You spend 1/3 of your life in your bed. Make the most out of it. A Dorothy Draper inspired floral headboard perhaps?
Whatever it is you love create it.

2. PAINT A PATTERN ON YOUR TERRACE FLOOR
Give new life to an old deck. Create a pattern and paint it yourself like Kristin at Hunted Interiors.
You can find tutorial here.
The result is awesome.
3. MIX CLASSIC AND MODERN WITH ABANDON
In love with old classics but want a modern flair? A classic dining table looks fantastic with modern chairs. The more you may think they clash – the better they actually go!
Designer Summer Thornton’s chic space for a client is proof.
4.MIX ALL YOUR FAVORITE PATTERNS – EVERYWHERE!
Forget the old thought that patterns should mix with solids. Take all your favorite patterns and colors and blend them together. On walls. bedding, headboard, for one happy uber chic mix. Superbly done here by Amber Interiors.
5. ADD A SURPRISING BOLD ACCENT COLOR SOMEWHERE – JUST BECAUSE YOU LOVE IT.
Breathe life and character and a sense of fun in to your space with a bold jolt.. The color you pick does NOT have to already exist in your room. Just pick what you love and make it work. Cassie at Hi Sugarplum painted her ceiling bold red.
6. MAKE A CHANDELIER OUT OF UNUSUAL OBJECTS
Want a shot?
This stunning chandelier made out of syringes hangs in Sober is Sexy owner’s bedroom. Genius AND stunning.
7. KEEP YOUR GROCERY SHOPPING LIST ON THE KITCHEN WALL
This way you won’t write a list and misplace it. Paint the wall with chalkboard paint and write what’s on your mind?
8. WALLPAPER WITH MAPS
By a bunch of maps you love and use as wallpaper. Perhaps maps of your favorite exotic island?

On Instagram? My new obsession.
Especially I liked wallpaper with map and green bed-room! This is something amazing!
I love when you do this series…always gives me the best ideas! How cool to be included in it!!! You are also such an inspiration…I tend to think, 'What color would Jill paint this?!" 😉
Do you know who makes the flowered fabric on the headboard in the first photo?
very creative ideas , keep going 🙂
I think the pink floral fabric is a vintage Brunschwig and Fils fabric designed by Paule Marrot. https://www.etsy.com/listing/76493210/brunschwig-…
thank you! It is B & F…it is on their website.
This is a very useful article and pic for the readers, especially for me thanks.
Hello lovely friend,
I miss you! (But step away from the computer while in Sweden!!).
You know how I like to mix old with new. My latest design Aha moment is mixing really old pieces against all crisp, uln white (shelves, walls etc).
I guess you can say I am becoming more Swedish!
It should have said "ultra"!
And also Hugs to You – before my kids splashed me with water!
