The things we do….

I don’t know how many of you are single working moms… There are days when you try really hard to get everything done, but at the end of the day you’re just not enough. Michelle Pfeiffer’s harried character in “One Fine Day” comes to mind…This week… first my back went out, my office is not done, Lily a my new assistant started, we’ve been loading the new look on to site but annoying tech problems have made it difficult (Don’t you HATE tech problems?) I’ve gone from designing rooms, to designing a ball dog feeder with Luke for his Invention Convention, I’ve left meetings to be there for his school performances (Mom how did you do it with three kids?), canceled meetings to run Luke to the doctor.  And finally, when asked to film a design tip for a TV show (which I tried to fit in last night), I had to ask Luke to be the camera guy (because styling was not right in previous footage) , and of course I had to film him mocking me talking about design. Wish I was allowed to share the hilarious tape…

Well sometimes we try…maybe too hard.

AND HOW WAS YOUR WEEK?

Okay, sorry to get long winded at top.  Sharing some things you might like. Click on link here, and check out some simple and affordable design tips I shared on Refinery29.

And…I want to share LiveLikeYou‘s first attempt at advertising! This is an ad in House of Fifty. I teamed up with fellow Swede fantastic Monika over at Splendid Willow, and we together offer a discount in both our stores. GRAB THE CODE —— 10 MORE DAYS TO GO – it’s good until December 10th.

And more Swedish friends….hop over to Erica for a sweepstakes to win $ 200 off bridal bouquet painting. She is also painting a painting a day, and auctioning them off on Ebay. Hurry to join. That is on top of the LiveLikeYou renderings I’m throwing on her this week.

The old playroom book case in the process of a makeover for my office….

And just in case you didn’t know what a FETCH FEEDER looks like….

…as you can see very popular even in the testing stages!

And finally at the Convention Invention.

ALRIGHT, I could have posted pretty design photos, but just sharing my week!

Hope you are having a good one.

  1. I am not a single working mom…but understand the feeling of rushing around…not nearly to the degree of having children involved (as I do not have any)…but I always think on these types of days that tomorrow (or next week) will be much better:) Take care, Caroline

  2. From single working mom to single working mom, it's tough.

    Incredibly tough.

But someday I won't have any more school concerts (which I will have to miss this year due to too many vacation days being used for my child's pnuemonia, broken orbital bone, unexplained rash, and a whole series of health issues with my parents), birthday parties at play places or skating lessons to chauffeur my child too, and then I'm not sure what I'll do, other than stalk my kid at college (just kidding – or at least I think I'm just kidding, check back with me in 10 years or so). So somehow I power on, and don't stop to think about what's not done – lack of sleep can sometimes allow me to block out certain things, like undone tasks if I'm lucky. And there's always tomorrow…..at least until they grow up.

    Hang in there!

  3. Hi Camille, I'm right with you. You're exhausted, get no sleep, work the day shift and the night shift, but as long as your sweet child is happy, that makes it all worth it at million times over!! Thanks for your comment.

  4. Hang in there!! And thanks for being a sponsor of the Holiday issue of HOF, running a post on you and Monika first of week. Hope your weekend runs smoother! Janell

  5. I just discovered your blog and absolutely love your style! All the long hours and hard work pay off, and then they move out. I depended on my support network to get through it all; wish I was there to help finish your office! Many hands make light work. Looking forward to reading the blog, thanks, and good luck with it all. Cheers! Melanie
