Finally…welcome to Jill Sorensen Lifestyle!

I apologize for the silence. I had to stay off the blog to have it redesigned and moved over to new url. It was supposed to be a quick process, but everything seems to take a lot longer than you anticipate, particularly if it has anything to do with websites and programming!! Web addresses have moved and improvements are still being made so I hope all of you still get the posts. If you have any trouble, or do not receive my blog posts please e-mail me!

Anyway… I’m happy to finally introduce you to my new re-branded website(s). I heeded the advice of experts and decided to simplify my approach to my business. So now my design firm, label and site is called simply – JILL SORENSEN.(that site will go live later this week) I always used to wonder why people would lack imagination and use their own name…LOL…now I know why. The e-commerce site LiveLikeYou is now called Jill Sorensen Lifestyle and will include only my own designs.

I hope you enjoy it, sign up to the mailing list & share it with your friends!READ MORE Finally…welcome to Jill Sorensen Lifestyle! →

Inside my Week – life in LA

Where does time go? Our life is finally getting organized here in LA. My office is almost set up, all business licenses and bank account transfers are soon completed, Luke is settled and very happy in his new school and our house in Virginia has sold.  2 1 /2 months have already slipped by inREAD MORE Inside my Week – life in LA →

Decorate with nothing new – our Livingroom

Moving and decorating a new place can be a very stressful AND expensive process.

Since the real estate market was “on fire” in LA it became impossible for us to find a house to buy, so instead we had to look for a temporary rental. Thanks to my broker Henry Dodge and my friend Julie in LA we found an cute bungalow just a few days before the moving trucks arrived. That gave me only a couple of hours to plan a design for a place I had never seen in person. And this had to be done without buying anything new AND leaving our house in Virginia perfectly staged to sell.

Here is a step by step SIMPLE & QUICK guide how you can decorate with nothing new!
STEP # 1

TAKE PICTURES OF THE NEW SPACE

As soon as you have secured the new place, bring paper and pen and a camera to the space. Take one picture from each corner of the room. And one picture from each side of the room. This gives you an excellent overview when you come home and start to work on a design. At this point also take notes as to what the landlord needs to do.READ MORE Decorate with nothing new – our Livingroom →

We have arrived!

We our now living in California. I still can’t believe it.

We have settled in to our cute little rented bungalow. It’s been a long, hard exhausting process emotionally and physically that included 5 days of camping in our new house with no internet for 9 days. (I now officially hate aero beds and FIOS. There I said it.)

For the longest time Luke had a wishlist — he wanted to live in a place where it was warm all the time, in a small house in a neighborhood he could bike around in, with a bedroom across the hall from mine and a mail slot in the door.

I committed to changing my life and living it the way I always had imagined, instead of settling.

It has not been easy, nothing worth doing is ever easy and I know there are challenges ahead. But we got what we wished for…

…..even unexpectedly a mail slot in the door.READ MORE We have arrived! →
