Hi friends, welcome to the new Artist Spotlight series.

I’m excited to kick it off with this super talented artist!

Name:

Yelena York

Where do you live ?

I live in Los Angeles

What do you do?

I am a full time Artist , mainly working on micro-detailed pointillism pieces on paper.

What made you decide to become an artist?

It was a life choice that was already written for me. I didn’t even have time to decide, it just happened.

What inspires you?

Everyday life, mostly my personal life, experiences, and my love of the unknown. It somehow transforms into little stories which then get transferred on to paper and then it becomes art.

What is your intention with your art?

To always stay as authentic as possible. I like that for many collectors and fine art lovers, I became the person who can work with traditional techniques and create one of a kind pieces from my creativity, rather than going commercial.

What’s the favorite painting or series that you ever made?

I honestly favor all of them differently.  Each piece takes me so long to create, so I have personal stories and memories with each of them.

What do you love the most about being an artist and the least?

Love : FREEDOM, I have a certain type of freedom when I am alone working, I enter a parallel universe and next thing I know 7 hours passed in like a second.
Least:  None !

Can you share a regular day in your life.

I wake up at 6am, check in with all the family members, then I work for 2-3 hours. Around noon I usually go to the beach if it’s good weather, then family time and work again. If I’m not behind with work I might go out for a nice meal or a drink and always before I go to sleep I draw for another 2 hours.

What are some of your favorite painters?

(Let’s mention a living artist 🙂 Mark Ryden.

If your art had a message what would it be?

Be patient.
