Recessionista finds

Hearing daily about the terrible state of the economy is a bit alarming, particularly when you’re about to launch a business. I’ve spoken to many talented furniture designers and manufacturers who no longer can afford to carry inventory because of poor sales. Many companies are rethinking and altering their strategies. I have many friends who are out of work or whose incomes are down. I’m really curious to know… What are you doing differently with your business in this economy? Or with your home purchases?

It seems the one good thing to come out of a bad economy, is a sudden influx of great inexpensive designs. Here are some of my favorite, chic deals of late. They look expensive but have a friendly price tag.

A elegant padded blue velvet headboard Nate Berkus for HSN $ 349.

Gilded bamboo coffee table for $ 279.95 by Nate Berkus for HSN.

Chic velvet slipper chair from Ba-Sofa $ 464

Safari settee $ 399 from Home decorators.

Reflective mirror cabinet $ 549. This is very similar to one of my favorite designs from Worlds-Away that retails for $3000.

It also comes in an espresso finish.

Chloe lamp Z Gallerie $ 99

Powder blue Parsons bookcase $ 249 from Home Decorators.

Willow sofa Z Gallerie $ 999

Palisades mirrored cocktail table for $ 149.
