Please help me choose!!

The design at the house is coming together. A few items have come in, a few have been ordered but not arrived…but then a few things I’m having the hardest time choosing. There are simply sometimes too many things to love.ย  As you know I’m a big believer in the small details making the room….but selecting some final touches like a pair of garden stools… I’m stuck.ย  I’m still waiting for the delivery ofย  my big YELLOW curtains with black graphics, and some large PURPLE items are arriving tomorrow… (will share Friday).

You might remember I already have…

…the turquoise “Truman” couch and the AQUA walls…..a GREEN stool. And I ordered some big WHITE items this week to tame all the colors….

Can’t wait for this 6′ high over sized rococo mirror, and the white cowhide to arrive!! (both from LiveLikeYou).

Okay, here are the colors in the room. The BLACK AND WHITE graphic wall paper will go in the hallway next to living room, and the rest are some of the colors in the room.

I need two garden stools to finish this off, and the problem is I like all of them for different reasons. My inner dialogue goes kind of like this which is not helpful….

PURPLE is cool and picks up the purples coming in…..LIME brings more of the cool yet sunny vibe….

A nice YELLOW trellis, very preppy chic…but, oh a punch of ORANGE might be really fun in the room….

Hmm, maybe I should go more streamlined and stick to WHITE or TEAL?

But I love a FLORAL pattern to soften things and bring in a pattern and the bold YELLOW AND BLACK FLORAL is a cool…

But I so do love that GREEN color with all the aqua, but you know RED would be a really fun contrast and pick up the chandelier in the foyer….

SEE….THIS IS HOW I DON’T GET ANYWHERE!!ย  Do you ever do this?

PLEASE….WHICH GARDEN STOOL SHOULD I PICK TO FINISH OFF THE DESIGN??

  1. Your room is looking fabulous!! What a tough choice! I've got it narrowed down to 3 – the teal or green with the same design or the white! Looking forward to seeing what you decide.

  2. I like the last green one with a white one — it looks like the green one brings in some of the blues. I think both would look great with the yellow curtains that I'm so excited to see!!

  3. Where are you going to use these garden stools in the room? I love the green but find the colored design stools interesting as well. I don't think that you need another pop of color with purple or red because that blue color is stunning and stands on it's own! You truly inspire me! Thanks!

    1. Hi Deborah, the gardens tools will be in front of the black lacquer coffee table which will be the first color you see as you enter living room from foyer.

  4. I say go with orange…since it is the complimentary color to blue and gives you a punch… Tough choice though. I think it is one of those things that you really can't go wrong because they all would look good. (or the purple now that I think about it:) I need to leave your page now before I change my mind!!!!

  5. Man, that aqua is heavenly. That's my dream for a living room! I really like the yellow trellis, but the orange would definitely add a fun punch to the room (and from reading your blog seems more your style to me)! If one gets you more excited than the rest, I say go with that one. ๐Ÿ™‚

  6. But why go with orange? stick with your color palette. With your color palette I like the purple one but it is not my favorite look, I like the look of the lime one and also how it goes with your color palette. WHite maybe if you need whoite there, it all depends on the balance of the room. If you have too much white green or lime on one side of the room and not on the other, then it will look odd. Get the rest of the stuff in and see which color that part of the room needs…. but you know that.

  7. After seeing the room fabs, I definitely think the green/citron would look great , still a pop of color but a nice mix of the yellow and green in the room!! The orange would also be a fun surprise and you do have that color elsewhere in your home. I see your problem. The only ones I don't like are the florals, they just don't look like the room to me, at all. They seem to take it down a notch.

I am having the same dialog over on my blog. I am asking for opinions on what to paint my giant 2ft. letter P for the playroom. Come on by, it will take your mind off of your gardenstools, KS

  8. Yep, I do that at times, too. And, I agree with all of your thoughts. My instinct is lime or purple. However, maybe not THAT purple one if there is a choice, as some of the other lines are better. Can't wait to see what you decide. I love your colorful style!

  9. I'd go with the purple. Purple and black are so great together (but then so are yellow and black, and lime and black.) The purple just pops to me. The only ones I didn't care for where the orange and red. I usually love orange, but with all those great colors I wouldn't introduce a new one.

Can't wait to see the end result!

  10. Where are you putting the stool? Next to the aqua couch?

Do you want it to pop, harmonize or carry another color around the room?

It seems a garden stool has a lot of style and is distinct so you wouldn't want it to be lost in the room.

I'm thinking the dark purple it will get lost, plus the scale looks small compared to couch and chair.

Once you add the other accents and curtains, you'll see the balance of color in the room and what you want more of. I think I'd wait until I get the curtains up and the other purple touches you spoke of. And then see how much attention you want the garden stool to get, and what color would give it that attention.

Or you may want to pick a color that harmonizes everything, supports it.

Curtains add a lot of color and density and fabric to the room so they are going to skew everything.

Without having them and the purple in the room, I'm drawn to the yellow lattice which would pop next to the turquoise and has a garden-exotic look, the green for harmony, the white to bring the white of the mirror and rug in the room.

I'd also consider getting a couple of different ones and change them occasionally if they're not too expensive. You can put one in another room or in the foyer and change them up depending on mood, season etc.

  11. The two florals are my favorite. After that, the lime. You've found some really unique garden stools . . . don't think you can go wrong with any of them . . . especially in your new, colorful living room!

  12. OMG what a lovely blog…and I seem to remember coming here last week when you so graciously comment on my post! OH DEAR, a dilemma! ALL CHOICES ARE TDF! That aqua sofa is it for me!!! Thank you dear for coming to listen to the silence…and the music! Anita

  13. That is a TOUGH choice!! They are all so great, but I think the pop of orange would look the best. Can't wait to see what you pick!!

  14. I would definitely go with the green and purple ones! I love that the purple is different – I've been eyeing the same one in aqua for a little while – and I think they both complement each other as well as the rest of the room.

  15. I don't think you're getting a unanimous answer here… ๐Ÿ™‚ I say either of the florals. I think the additional "pattern" would be nice in your space based on your pics. Can't wait to find out what you pick.

  16. I pick the white!! It's going to tame down any bright colors and what wouldn't you be able to pair with it? Good luck on your decision!

    Happy Thursday Dear! xo

Oh, and have you entered the perfume GIVEAWAY yet?

  17. if it was me, i wouldn't add in another color to your teal, yellow, purple, black and white. i would go with either the white or the first yellow floral one. or the purple. i have a hard time making decision too!

  18. I LOVE the lime & orange, beautiful pops of color! The yellow & white are also gorgeous but a little more calming complimentary.

  19. Oh Jill. you have so many opinion's- I don't want to add to the confusion! OK, I LOVE THE YELLOW LIGHT FLORAL (but, the smaller floral pattern might not look right w/ the geometric shapes of the designs you are using? Next, I LOVE THE YELLOW LATTICE stool! >and, it will pull the yellow from the kitchen, too- just about 45 degrees from this view, right? BUT, with all that said- not to complicate things- You should really do the WHITE! Which is actually, uncomplicating things! It's so classy & timeless! I think you have so many colors from the other rooms (which is beautiful) but, your house is very open, big-wide doorway's (you're SO lucky!) that I think it would be prettier on the eye, if you just popped the colors you already have. Gosh, how to know where that fine line is, between too much and just enough- and how do you learn the line of damarcation, without over-spending and finding out the hard-way?

  20. VandM.com – Have you seen it? VERY COOL, STUFF! It's just like "1st dibs" but less expensive. I worked w/ them a bit, so if you need any intro's- I' be happpy to!
