Trip to a moody Paris

Oh, how nice it is to be back in the US!! My phone works, no more spotty internet service, my house, my pets…yeah! The best part of traveling is perhaps that you really appreciate coming home.

I spent the last four days in a moody, crowded Paris.  Seems everyone was there to celebrate Bastille Day (which is today.) But rainy, cloudy or not…I forgot what a stunningly beautiful city Paris was. I lived there for a couple of years in my twenties, and coming back , I was surprised how little I appreciated the beauty back then.  This is the most cliche sentence….but Paris is truly one of the most beautiful cities on earth.  And for the first time I got to be a tourist!

This was the view from the hotel room. Rooftops and the Eiffel tower.

Sorry…but just perfection. I had to take pictures from every angle. I had plenty of time, two hour wait to ride up to top.

I wonder if it’s the most photographed building in the world. Every angle, every inch is perfect.

Notre Dame…could just sit there and stare.  Avoided the two hour line to climb the tower here. Breathtaking.

This is the door. I mean….who builds places like this anymore.  Can you imagine creating that ironwork?

The majestic Louvre. So glad to show all this to Luke. All this history and beauty.

The most famous painting in the world. Every minute photographed by a crowd of people.

Luke and I squeezed our way to the front….

Unplanned Mona Lisa expression… Don’t know if he is happy or annoyed, or carrying a secret…

Hundreds of years ago artists used color in the most stunning way…

One painting is more beautiful than the next….

Such talent. For every painting I saw, I got an idea for a new room design or color combination.

Imagine this painting as a room!!

Here’s a close up…amazing…I need to design a space around this. Unbelievable.

Paintings, buildings, interiors all that you see inspires you, gives you ideas.  Everything around us is a reinterpretation from something in the past in whatever form that may be…

Happy Bastille Day!

  3. I was transfixed looking at all the colors in the paintings there last month. My mind swirled with inspiration. No wonder I was so exhausted when I came home. They are all called masters for a reason, eh? 🙂

    Glad you're home!

  4. I haven't been to Paris in years – just dying to go!! I'd love to go in the spring or fall – you were a brave soul to go on Bastille Day. But it looks like you had fun nonetheless!! It is truly such a beautiful city – I was reminded today as my husband and I went to see Midnight in Paris – charming.
