Inspired Dining Spaces

I hope you had a good weekend.

I’m in the midst of several back to back client projects which takes up a huge amount of my awake hours so I apologize for the sometimes sporadic posting schedule.  I love blogging and hate when the week runs away from me without posting.  Thought I would share what’s on my design radar. This week it’s dining rooms.  As I sign off on a couple of projects I will be starting on dining rooms for some clients.

If there is one piece of advice I have for anyone of you out there about to design your dining room it’s this…Don’t match the tables and chairs and don’t buy a set – mix it up!

Interior design Melissa Rufty

One of the main thing I like in all dining room designs is to NOT match table with the chairs. Sometimes I don’t even like to match the head chairs with the rest of the chairs.  Here is similar to what I have in our own dining room  – white wood chairs with brown table. Love the leopard chairs!

Betsey Johnson

Never tire of this superb color combination in Betsey Johnson’s apartment. The pale pink, with chartreuse silver chairs punctuated with black and white and crystals is perfect.

Here again a Swedish dining table with black wood chairs. Again unusual and great color combo. Sorry forgot the designer. Please leave in comment section if you know it.

Love the mix of blues with red chandelier and black floors.

Modern chairs, with ethnic carpet and classic table. I’m always drawn to the mix.

Interior design Summer Thornton

Glamorous and classic dining space.

Here I love the random choice of a bold red Chinese carpet with bold red chairs.

This pictures I’ve had for a while. Just somehow makes me happy. Happy design.

The awesome light fixture and fabric on the chairs makes this an inspired space to me.

Hope you enjoyed!

  1. The unidentified dining room was by Bailey McCarthy of Peppermint Bliss. It was her Chicago house.

I always love mixing modern and traditional especially in dining rooms.

  2. I agree – I prefer to mix the table and the chairs – they are all so beautiful it is hard to pick a favorite. But I think if I had to choose it would have to be the first pic with the leapord – be still my heart! Love all the fantastic color!

  3. There are some points to remember while purchasing furniture for your home or living place. You don't buy them just to show off or to entertain guests, that time have passed now. Earlier people used to buy simple and inexpensive dining sets but today people are more aware about its use and importance. Traditionally, people used to have their food in their living room only but things have changed. Now, there is a separate dining area in most of the houses. So it is important to carry out some research for the thing that cover most of your home. Before purchasing any table or chairs sets, get to know the material of the furniture. From the years, we are using wood that we known is the most best and durable material but there are other materials available in market that you can check out based on your need and budget.
