Where do you live?

I split my time between Los Angeles and Ojai. I also just rented out my Echo Park house and
refurbished a new cute little house in Cypress Park.

Family:

Me, my husband, and our dog Lou.

What do you do?

As an interior designer, I’m involved in multiple projects at a time ranging from residential to landscape design. I also oversee the multiple deKor stores located in Ojai, Frogtown and Atwater Village.

Where do you drink your morning coffee?

I grew up in Sweden drinking tea my whole life. My morning ritual consists of brewing a little teapot and relaxing on the deck. Sometimes I enjoy sitting back in our new little guest house that I built.

How does your home make you feel?

My home makes me feel good because it makes me happy. I always feel like your environment where you live is such an important thing for your happiness; not necessarily the material things but simply making your surroundings feel pleasing helps heighten your mood.

What part of your home or space makes you the happiest, and why?

Right this moment I love my vintage claw foot tub that I put in the open guest house. It makes me feel at peace because it’s placed in a quiet backyard and the doors are usually open.

Have you designed a space just for you?

Yes I designed our little house in Cypress Park- photos will be coming soon to the site.

What’s the first thing people say when they come to your house?

Most people say they love it. I take pleasure in creating an environment where guests enjoy mingling
and love it so much that they don’t want to leave.

Can you share 3 quick design tips on how to create a space that makes you happy?

1. Make sure you have a large enough rug so that it anchors the space.
2. Keep in mind trim and windows when you paint – sometimes a good idea if you have white walls is to add some color like gray or dark blue on your windows.
3. Don’t be afraid of having dark paint on walls.

Go with your gut! Embrace how you feel when you have the piece in the house. It’s all about how you
feel.
