From Garage to Dream Teen room – the full reveal

You might recall we  turned the garage in to a guest house to make space for a teen room for Luke, and a downstairs and office for me.  I finally have some pictures to share.  If you follow along you might remember…

One week to move in HERE

This is the original garage below….

We started adding a top floor and a hallway to connect the two buildings.

This is last summer when Luke directed his short  action film…

This is the short “Hooligans” an action short that Luke wrote and directed that starred adult professional actors.

Luke has been accepted to LMU film school here in LA and will start college this fall. I’m so excited for him, yet I’m  in shock that my little boy is now a kid going off college! How did that happen?

Anyway here is the room now…

We added some Empire /Gatsby vibe with this wild vintage cabinet that we gave a makeover.

We bought it from my favorite local vintage second hand store for $ 100. Sprayed it with gold spray paint, painted the top marble shiny black.

It originally looked like this below.

The room has a terrace looking out over a massive mountain range.

It now looks like this…

A Turkish vintage runner in the entry way that leads to the stair case down.

The corner has  a massive view window  in the corner of the staircase you enter on, which is the best feature of the room.

Gold Kitchen sconces

Luke wanted lions everywhere. These are vintage lions from Sunbeam vintage in LA.

I used the old 60’s wine cellar door that we removed from the main house during renovations. I kept in storage waiting to find somewhere to use them.  We painted it shiny black and added gold lion handles. All rooms need some vintage architectural element.

This view corner everyone who enters stops on the way up.

We just LOVE it!

I added see through light fixtures to work with the view, and the casualness of the space.

The wall you face as you enter the room has  been covered in STIKWOOD a glue on wood veneer.

In the back corner is a mini gym next to an antler chair from Colorado that he inherited from his dad’ and an African drum.

The guest house teen room and office is connected to the main house via our laundry room by this cheerful green hallway!
