Client installation day!

Where did the week go?

I got back Sunday night, and moved right in to a client installation. Lori and Jeremy had wanted some touch ups and updates to their house, and I’m really excited to see the dramatic impact the new items had.  Install day can be stressful, but it’s always fun to see a space change. No matter how organized you are, the unexpected can happen, so you just have to go with the flow.  Having a team of talented people is key!  We had electricians, furniture installers and curtain installation all in one day.

Here are some pictures.

Handle with Care delivering some of the items.

It’s funny but when you install you suddenly want all the items in your own house. Love garden stools one of my favorite design items.

Mike and Paul and the gang in full force. They are all so talented and good at what they do. A new chandelier instead of a ceiling fan, new custom curtains instead of dark shades, and a focal point mirror. All the items selected to enlarge and open up the space.

The fantastic looking mirror came 5″ less wide and 5″ less high then what the manufacturer website had faultily indicated. I was not happy! Still looks fantastic, but the size is smaller than we wanted. So off to hunt some new mirrors. As I said the unexpected can always happen.

All the new curtains were the star of the day. The family room got fresh Windsor Smith fabric.  It’s amazing the dramatic impact custom curtains have.

Good custom curtains have the same effect in a room, as when a woman styles her hair and puts on makeup.  You can wear really expensive clothes but if your hair and makeup looks like crap, so will you.

I always like to allow for as much natural light as possible and make the space feel bigger. You achieve this by hanging the curtains as high and wide as possible. It’s the simplest yet best design trick to make a space look more elegant.

Limed studded coffee table. Love this finish! The carpet has still not arrived….one more week.

They got an AMAZING painting by one of my favorite artists Josh Rosenthal!

Garden stool are so useable as extra seating or drink table, and SO CHIC!!!

This carpet, my YELLOW MARK will arrive next week.

Can’t wait to see the yellow pop all the greys and turquoise.

Another gorgeous limed wood TV cabinet. Big Sur Limed TV cabinet

The upstairs hall got new curtains, a cool chair and we are waiting for the desk this week.

I like making use of dead spaces. They make for the best areas.

Love the cool fabric.

The master bedroom got new curtain panels.  Love John Robshaw’s new line for Duralee.

LOVE THIS MIRROR!! I have the same one in my bedroom in gold. It’s a star.

It’s like a piece of jewelery on the wall. Stunning detail.

Okay, that was a little sneak peek. Have LOTS AND LOTS of client before and afters coming up the next couple of months.

Enjoy this last week of the summer!!

  1. If I saw this in a magazine I would know that it was your design work in an instant! Great work as usual!

  2. Love posts like this! I cannot wait to see the finished rooms, especially with that amazing rug. I am loving the Windsor Smith fabric and sunburst mirrors. Well done!
