I hope you all stayed safe during the hurricane. This summer is going out with a bang I think it’s pretty safe to say! An earthquake and a monster hurricane within one week. I’m lucky to say we could not have planned our end of summer vacation any better…The last two weeks I’ve been vacationingOH NO…it's already the end of summer!
Trip to a moody Paris
Oh, how nice it is to be back in the US!! My phone works, no more spotty internet service, my house, my pets…yeah! The best part of traveling is perhaps that you really appreciate coming home. I spent the last four days in a moody, crowded Paris. Seems everyone was there to celebrate Bastille DayREAD MORE Trip to a moody Paris →
Going back in time…
We’re spending the weekend in Newport, RI. The air is cool and the fog rolls in every night. Being here brings me back in time, envisioning the life of the colonialists in this beautiful port, and later the gilded era when one mansion outdid the next…
The reminder of hundreds of years of life lived by the sea is everywhere….READ MORE Going back in time… →

Welcome Gourmet Butterfly!
It’s not a joke when people say the kitchen is the heart of the home, it really is!! Unfortunately (as all my friends know) the art of cooking has completely eluded me. Therefore I’m especially excited to welcome one of my dearest friends, Kersti Bowser as the first regular contributor on the LiveLikeYou blog!! KerstiREAD MORE Welcome Gourmet Butterfly! →
I desperately need to visit here…
The holidays are here. Thanksgiving, and next up Christmas. Being Swedish Christmas is my favorite of the two, particularly since I get to travel home and visit my family. Due to the bad economy they’ve canceled all the flights from Stockholm to my home town. So the only option after we land is a 3 1/2 hour train ride or car ride.
That means we need to spend the night somewhere close to the airport in Stockholm to make the early return flight. Just the perfect excuse I needed to try and book a room at a place I’ve been dreaming about going for a LONG time…Gorvaln’s castle. It’s my hotel “design crush”. I posted about it on the blog before. I don’t know about you, but this hotel castle leaves me speechless..READ MORE I desperately need to visit here… →
Wish trip…Soho House Miami
Winter is coming…and there’s nothing we can do about it. 6am is now dark and cold, and yesterday morning the car was covered in frost. Yikes! Didn’t take much for me to start longing for warm, sunny weather! I’m already dreaming of places I want to go to this winter, and here is one place high on the wish list. The new Soho house – Miami is not only in one of my favorite locations, the design looks fun. Kind of a woodsy, earthy 60’s vibe, with glamorous crystal chandeliers and happy, fun colors. Not sure what to call it.READ MORE Wish trip…Soho House Miami →
It's a beautiful life
2009 was the worst year of my life. A series of extremely difficult circumstances taught me that life has to be lived to it’s fullest. Because the day upon you might be all you’ll get. I don’t mean to sound horrifically morbid, but I do know the happiest people in the world treat every dayREAD MORE It's a beautiful life →
What a SOHO week
Years ago my dear friend Jenny recruited a bunch her friends to join this new little British club that was coming to New York. I joined mostly to be supportive of Jenny, even though the place sounded really cool. Turned out she did us as all a big favor, as this little club was the first Soho house in the states. I had not visited for a long time, until this week during my travels, when it became the perfect place for meetings. Designed by the super talented London designer Ilse Crawford I was glad to go back. It’s such a treat to spend time in such cool interiors.READ MORE What a SOHO week →
The best kept secret
Cheryl, my co-founder in Knock Out Abuse invited us to visit her summer rental in Connecticut this weekend. She described the place as “a slice of heaven”, and I’m happy Dan and I were able to drive up for a night. After all these years living on the east coast, I can’t believe I never heard of Stoney Creek and Thimble Islands?? It’s a sleepy town, an hour and a half from NYC, with an archipelago consisting of 32 beautiful islands. It’s definitely one of the best kept secrets on the east coast, and everyone who lives there knows it.READ MORE The best kept secret →
