Adding my favorite color combo

Do you have a favorite color combination?

I have a bunch.  A few of them I keep coming back to in different variations like BLUE & ORANGE.  It can be navy, turquoise, pale blue mixed with orange, sometimes with dark brown and white as well. I’m starting to spruce up the outdoors, and having some pieces painted to go with the orange Trina Turk cushion covers.

And it got me thinking of this…

Interior Design Barrie Benson.

Orange with navy. So retro and chic.

Interior Design Jonathan Adler.

Or this. Jonathan Adler uses it often always with great success, here it’s pale blue. Again it looks great with dark brown and white.

I used that color combination in my bedroom except a turquoise with orange, brown, yellow and white. There’s just so many colors that look great with blue and orange.

When I got bored with the Restoration Hardware pieces outdoors, instead of selling them I reupholstered the cushions in one of Trina Turk’s fun outdoor fabrics a while back. And when it came to adding a color to go with them…

…I decided on….

…yep blue. Jose painted my old garden console and plant stand blue. The console had a nice worn patina but with all the outdoor use it had to be painted to protect it.

I have this blue on the garden table so I went with it here as well.

Looks great with green leaves.

Interior design Erin Valencich.

Just love these colors together…..

I guess sometimes it’s okay to stick with what you like.

Do you have a favorite color combination?   I’m going to start sharing some of mine.

  1. Great post! I too am a fan of blues and oranges, but being in Denver, most people think I'm wanting to decorate their home with the Bronco jerseys :/ Right now my color obsession is yellow, turquoise and grey.

  2. I love green, blue and white together, forever crisp and fresh!!! Love the console painted blue, so much more fun that way. You always make me smile. I posted my playroom reveal today, speaking of blue, green and white!!! Kathysue

  3. Orange and turquoise is my favourite. A close second would be yellow and blue. I have both in my house and I am now in the middle of redecorating my living room which will be a continuation of the orange and turquoise in my dining room. You can see it on my website. P.S. I couldn't believe your choice on the Trina Turk orange fabric, that has been my number one pick for my vintage chairs that I am reupholstering! Andrea

  4. Great color combo! Love the blue on the outdoor console! I'm loving yellow and blue as well… gosh, there are so many fabulous combos, but I'm drawn to the vibrant.

  5. Hello my friend. x

Yes I too have many. I tend to fall for deep stormy blues mixed with white and brown, or grey..
Also have a thing for turquoise – from aqua, to teal and all the way to a deep sea green, I just go weak at the knees and I love to see it mixed with black, gunmetal grey, gold and dark blue.
Yellow.. aaaahhh.. who can live without yellow..!?! When I was a little girl I was given free hands when it came to decorating my room and I commissioned a painter to turn my walls into a yellow vision. I loved it. Such a sunny happy colour and I love mixing it with white, melon, tangerine or coral reds in summer. It also looks fab with greys and camel colour.

So many options.. too few rooms.. 🙂
