A weekend at dreamy Korakia hotel

I’ve seen loads of irresistible pictures on Instagram and design blogs of a small charming Moroccan style hotel in Palm Springs called  Korakia Pensione.  I’ve been wanting to go ever since I moved to LA, so when my boyfriend surprised me with an anniversary trip to Korakia this weekend, I was thrilled.

Artist Gordon Cutts originally built the home in 1924 longing for his childhood in Tangier Morocco, and called it dar Maroc.  His home and library was a gathering place for the great literary, artistic, and musical minds of that time and Winston Churchill is said to have painted here.  The Moroccan style hotel is incredibly romantic with open air living areas, court yard swimming pools, massive keyhole shaped entry ways and ornately hand carved wood furniture and colorful lanterns all around.  A short weekend relaxing in the old world exotic surroundings, and waking up to bird sing left us feeling like we had traveled far, far away.

The enchanting entry.

The spa next to our room.

The back area pool right outside our door.

Our room.

The charming back yard.

There is  large lounge area covered with rugs and floor pillows and old wooden furniture.

Perfect for Margaritas!

The bougainvillea…. dreamy.

Beautiful wood carved day bed by the pool.

Lit up with festival lights at night.

Breakfast is included and served in the court yard.

You can pick from three delicious things, but I definitely recommend the avocado toast with a fried egg. Perfect from beginning to end.
