A very very sad Day.

Luke’s dad passed away last night after an almost three year long battle with brain cancer.

It’s been a long difficult fight that he handled with strength, dignity and incredible courage.

Today we are very sad.

Luke really misses his dad.

Our prayers go out to everyone in Joe’s family.

And we pray for all children and families living and dealing with terminal illness.

Thank You to our beautiful friends and Luke’s school for your deep care and concern and help.

Angels do exist here on earth among the amazing people we get to know.

  1. Jill, I know that no words can take the pain away but please know that you and Luke are loved. I am so sorry to hear of your loss and hope the happy memories help to sustain your strength during this difficult time.

  2. He was a great man who gave so much and was the poster child for the American Dream. Now you have a beautiful son to remind you of all of the good things about him. Sorry for your loss.

  3. Jill I have been thinking about you guys. My thoughts and prayers are with you. Joe was a great man. He will be missed.

  4. Oh Jill…I'm so sorry. My heart goes out to you, Luke and Joe's family. What a sad day, but man did he put up an incredible fight. Here's a big virtual hug xxx until I see you soon. My prayers will be with you all today! xx Danielle

  5. Dear Jill, Tears all day & night. There just aren't words to say what a loss it is, for Joe's passing… You said you wish for prayer's to go out to Joe's family (and yes, I've been praying for them) for Luke, Joe Jr, Amiee, his sister's, brother & family), but Jill- you are apart of his family, too- always will be. So, I ask for prayers for you, as well- because YOU have been a pillar of strength for Luke, and for Joe! It's speaks volume's about both of you- that you & Joe have remained close & have spent holiday's together, along with Daniel (it's beautiful, rare & wonderful that Joe gave his blessing to Daniel) that must have been the hardest thing to say- to get the words out?

  6. (continued)… Once again, a tribute to Joe (and to Daniel for being a stand-up guy, and to ALL all of you) for handling such a tough situation with so much grace & love! Luke is lucky to have you…As, I have no doubt that you will continue on, raising him- to be the young, fine, well-mannered good kid that he is! I'm proud of you for the strength you have shown him. Once again, uhg…I am so sorry for Joe's passing to all of you (Godspeed!) The world has lost one of the Great One's. I think all that knew him, would say exactly the same…Love to you & Luke, and to all of your family. -Julie

  9. So Veer sorry . Joe was a great man and has left a huge floor print on hearts and on Washington DC. All the strength and courage goes to you Jill and Luke. You were an amazing support to Joe, and you are the most fantastic mom. And Luke is a wonderful wonderful boy. We are here and look forward to seeing you this weekend. Love.

  10. Dear Jill! What heartbreaking news. My deepest condolences for all of you. This must be unbearably hard fro Luke and I am wrapping him in loving energy all the way from Sweden.
I'll email you a wonderful tool that is used to help children cope with bereavement in Australia – it's called the 'Rainbow Ritual'.

Warmest hugs and loving regards to you all.

  11. So incredibly sorry for this sad news. It is always hard to lose someone, but even harder when it happens during the holidays. You both will have your memories, but I know that is not much comfort at this time. Thinking about both of you……

  12. I really hate to hear this. I am so sorry for you all. My own children's father passed away 7 years ago and it has been a long road for us and I sympathize with you. My advice is to be strong and accept any help offered. God Bless.

  13. I am so sorry. I lost my father a year ago and it's been a struggle. What helps most is talking about the persons life – your memories of all the good times. I still feel my dad's spirit around me everyday. My thoughts are with you during this extremely difficult time.

  14. I have been away and I am just tonight getting caught up on emails and blog reading. Even though we have never met, I was shocked to see your post today. It is so true we have no idea what others are going through and the pain they may be experiencing. I am so very sorry to read this and hear about your loss. It appears that the support you are getting from friends is abundant. It will never replace or fill the void you are feeling but hopefully it will ease you through these difficult first days.
    Comfort and Grace,
    Pam Rosenberg
