I forgot how much I love Easter over here. The fresh cold air is just slowly giving way to early signs of spring. Nothing is green yet, but tiny buds make their way, fighting through even the occasional snow storm. The few days we’ve spent so far have been fuel for the soul. It’s been New beginnings…..
SPICING up our Swedish summer home
Okay…this is a post my mother will probably hate. Our sweet summer house in Sweden has graciously escaped my need to modernize and colorize. Yet I’m planning now, how to carefully add some splashes of color and modern elements without ruining the quiet country vibe. The best thing about it there, is the peacefulness, andREAD MORE SPICING up our Swedish summer home →
Inside a Swedish newspaper shoot
Svenska Dagbladet the Stockholm newspaper is here shooting a story. My talented stylist/journalist friend Jennifer Jansch is in town for two days with photographer Staffan Lowstedt. Let me tell you…it gives a you a really good reason to clean and neaten up your home.
It’s funny how shoots work. Jennifer and I took turns taking Iphone pics. Here is a picture they were shooting of me in my still unfinished office….READ MORE Inside a Swedish newspaper shoot →
Sheepskin hides in interiors – a Swedish necessity
I hate being cold! Everyone is always surprised when I say that. You’re cold? But you’re Swedish, you’re not supposed to be cold? B-I-G misunderstanding. Because I grew up being so cold my toes and fingers often went numb from freezing temperatures, I don’t ever like to be cold. As I’m gearing up for an upcoming “snowy” magazine shoot in Sweden. (we need snow, praying for snow) I’m adding even more furry/shaggy seats to chairs over there. Nothing better to warm up your bum!READ MORE Sheepskin hides in interiors – a Swedish necessity →
My friend's AMAZING Stockholm apartment!
Some people have the most cool style no matter what they do. It’s something you can’t create and or pretend to have, you just have it. It’s something unexplainable that generally extends to every visual you express yourself. Now I didn’t expect a less cool interior from Jennifer Jansch, since she is a popular stylist in Sweden. This fall she took a big leap of faith and moved to new York city with her three daughters and husband. I love New York, but all I can think of is how hard it must be to leave this apartment. It just came out in Skona Hem so I finally have the go ahead to post it here on the blog.
Raw Bergmanesque Swedish scraggly beauty
Today is that last official weekday of summer….it feels a bit melancholy. A big part of our summers are spent in Sweden with my family and this brings a whole year in front of us until the next beautiful summer. Instead of posting design pictures I want to share a little outing we did withREAD MORE Raw Bergmanesque Swedish scraggly beauty →

Has your garden ever looked like this?
When a house is not lived in full time, and you’re in a country where professional gardeners are a rare breed (Swedes do it all by themselves), and the people living in it is in another part of the world…and one particular person focuses all her time on interiors….then some areas of the yard sadlyREAD MORE Has your garden ever looked like this? →

A welcome change of scene & pace
Hope you all had a good weekend! For the next weeks I’ll be vacationing, working & blogging from way out in the Swedish country side. More exactly from our summer house in Torp, the tiny village with only seven houses in it, situated right on a beautiful lake. It’s serene, peaceful, and like stepping 100 years back in time. It’s worth coming all the way here even if it’s just to smell the incredibly fresh air!!
I’m very happy to have changed from sitting in traffic on route 7, an unfortunate daily occurrence, to be staring at this beautiful view…READ MORE A welcome change of scene & pace →
